The Misericordia University women's volleyball team dropped a tough 3-0 decision at FDU-Florham, Wednesday.

MU lost 25-21, 25-18, 25-21 to fall to 13-14 overall and into a tie for fourth place in the MAC Freedom at 4-3.

Fiona Pyfer had a team-high 13 kills while
Faith Merritt had seven kills, a team-high 15 digs and two aces.

Annika Massa had 31 assists and
Alexa Monro added four aces.

Down 24-18 in the opener, Pyfer sandwiched a pair of kills around an ace from Monro to get within three, but the Devils came out of a timeout to score the clinching point.

MU trailed 24-13 in the second set and rallied for five straight points thanks to kills from Pyfer, a block by
Sophie Winter and an ace by Merritt to cut the deficit to 24-18.

The Cougars took a 5-2 lead in the finale on two kills from Pyfer and a kill by
Shelby Hastings.

Winter had a block and a kill to extend the lead to 11-6.

FDU-Florham scored five straight points to take a 16-15 lead and used a 6-0 run to extend the lead to 23-17.

Merritt had two kills as the Cougars scored four consecutive points, but the Devils used a timeout to pause the MU rally for the third straight set before score the last two points to win 23-21.

The Cougars will host King's in their MAC Freedom finale, Thursday. MU needs a win or an FDU-Florham loss to Stevens to secure a postseason berth.
