The Misericordia University women's volleyball team clinched the third seed in the MAC Freedom Championships with a 3-1 win over King's, Thursday night on Doc Mould Court.

Fiona Pyfer had 20 kills and 15 digs as the Cougars improved to 14-14 overall and 5-3 in the MAC Freedom.

Faith Merritt added 11 kills and four aces and
Alexa Monro had five aces.

Sadie Stockslager had a team-high six blocks and
Shelby Hastings had five blocks.

Hastings' smash from the right side gave the Cougars a 17-13 lead in the opening set and Merritt sandwiched a pair of kills around an ace from Monro to make it 20-13.

Winters' dink started a 4-0 that ended with Pyfer's kill from the left side to close out a 25-15 win.

Pyfer's smash down the left sideline put MU ahead 9-6 in the second set and she added two more kills to cap a 5-0 run for an 11-6 lead.

After King's pulled even, 13-13, the Cougars scored three straight points, including a kill in the left corner by Pyfer for a 16-13 advantage.

The Cougars closed the set on a 7-2 run to win 25-20.

King's raced out to an 8-1 lead in the third set, but the Cougars responded with a 6-0 run to get within 8-7.

MU eventually went in front, 12-11, on ace from Merritt, but King's rallied to win 25-22.

Up 9-7 in the finale, Pyfer hit through a block attempt on the left side and
Jessica Cleveland had three aces as the Cougars scored six straight points to take a 15-7 lead.

MU closed out the match on another 6-0 run.

The Cougars had one of their most productive attacking nights of the season as they totaled 55 kills. MU added 15 aces, the second-highest total of the season.

Misericordia will conclude the regular season with a tri-match with Stevenson at Cabrini, Saturday, and will travel to Stevens in the MAC Freedom semifinals, Wednesday.
