The Misericordia University men's soccer team improved to 6-1 with a 2-0 win over Delaware Valley in their MAC Freedom opener, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Â
Brandon Ebersole and
Anthony Yarabinee both scored goals for the Cougars.
Â
The Cougars struck first midway through the first half when Ebersole scored on a deep ball from
Eric Goldberg. It was Ebersole's first goal of the year while Goldberg notched an assist for the second straight match.
Â
Yarabinee scored his first career goal on a header just before halftime.Â
Collin Deckert lofted a ball to the far post where Yarabinee was able to head into the right side of the net.
Â
Goldberg had a one-on-one opportunity early in the first half but his shot was blocked by a defender.
Max Gariano was there for the rebound, but his shot bounced off the crossbar. Â
Alexei King almost scored a header of his own and Ebersole nearly scored his second goal, but the Aggies keeper was up to the task on both chances.Â
MU won the shot battle, 16-1. The Cougars took 11 corners compared to two for the Aggies.Â
Misericordia will host Clarks Summit for the last non-conference game of the season, Tuesday at 4:00.Â
