The Misericordia University men's basketball team dropped a 104-96 overtime decision to Centenary in the consolation game of the Scranton Hilton Classic, Saturday.
Joseph Baldachino had 25 points to lead five Cougars in double figures while all-tournament team selection
Nate Kreitzer added 14 points and four assists.
Jake Bartholomew add 12 points and
Daron Pierre and
Rodrigo Vani added 10 points each.
Vani grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
Kevin Lazdowsky's jumper gave MU a 66-55 lead with 13:28 to play and the Cougars led 70-60 with 11:07 remaining.
The Cyclones chipped at the lead and eventually took a 71-70 lead with 9:05 to play.
The teams went back-and-forth over the final minutes and a layup by Vani and a pair of free throws by Bartholomew gave the Cougars an 89-85 lead with 30 seconds to go.
Centenary scored a pair of baskets in the final 16 seconds to force overtime.
The Cyclones scored eight straight points to open the extra session and the Cougars never got closer than four points.
MU will host Widener in their home opener, Wednesday.
