The Misericordia University men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season, 92-82, Friday night at Moravian.
Kevin Lazdowsky and Matthew Marchetti led the Cougars with 18 points each.Â
Nate Kreitzer added 17 points and
Derek Smith had 11.Lazdowsky had a team-high eight rebounds.
The Cougars trailed 61-48 early in the second half before going on a 23-10 run over the next 10 minutes.
Misericordia closed the game on a 15-5 run over the final 3:07.
Tied 77-77, Kreitzer made a three-pointer to give the Cougars the lead with 2:37 to play.
The teams traded layups and Lazdowsky hit a three-pointer for an 85-79 lead with 1:26 to go.
After a Moravian three-pointer, Smith answered with another three-pointer to give MU an 88-82 lead with :41 left.
Daron Pierre and Lazdowsky both made two free throws to close the game.
Marchetti made back-to-back three-pointers as the Cougars took a 40-34 lead with 3:45 left in the first half, but Moravian rallied to take a 47-42 lead at halftime.
The Greyhounds opened the second half on a 14-4 run.
Marchetti made two straight three-pointers and
Jerry Surrency made a short jumper in the lane to get within 61-56 with 12:11 to go.
