MU Field Hockey on the Road in MAC Freedom Title Game

The Misericordia University field hockey team will visit Stevens in the MAC Freedom championship game, Saturday at 1:00.

The Cougars, 13-6, are seeded second and reached the title game with a 1-0, double-overtime win over FDU-Florham, Wednesday.

Madison Posivak scored the game-winner with an assist from Mikayla Cavenas with less than four minutes to play in the second overtime session.

Stevens, 14-4, advanced to the championship game with a 3-1 win over Arcadia.

Stevens edged Misericordia, 2-1, during the regular season.  This is the first postseason meeting between the schools.

Misericordia is making its fifth appearance in the MAC Freedom title game in the last eight seasons.  The Cougars won the league title in 2015 and 2017.
 
Anna Effinger (9g, 6a) leads the Cougars in scoring with 24 points while Cavenas (6g, 9a) is second with 21 points.

Posivak (7g, 3a) adds 17 points and has recorded a point in seven consecutive contests.

Olivia Gretz has posted nine shutouts and owns a 1.34 goals against average.

Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for senior citizens.  Students and children are $2.
