The Misericordia University men's basketball team's rally came up short in an 86-72 loss to Delaware Valley, Saturday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.
The Cougars fell behind 16-2 and didn't score their first field goal until a lay-up by
Kevin Lazdowsky nearly nine minutes into the game.
MU trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half, but charged back in the opening minutes of the second half.
Down 42-28 at halftime, Lazdowsky and
Nick Hornung combined for free throws to open the second half and Lazdowsky went to coast-to-coast to convert a steal to pull the Cougars within 44-34 with 17:40 remaining.
Hornung made a short jumper and
Nate Kreitzer scored two of his game-high 29 points with a three-pointer from the top of the key to beat the shot clock and cut the margin to 51-46 with 14:09 to go.
The Cougars never got any closer and the Aggies eventually stretched the lead back to double digits.
Hornung had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Lazdowsky added 10 points and 13 rebounds.
MU will host Wilkes, Wednesday.
