Skylar Dowling scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to an 85-54 win over Delaware Valley, Saturday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.
Alyssa Bondi added 13 points and
Meaghan McCaffrey had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cougars broke a 2-2 tie and raced out to a 25-7 lead after one period.Â
Misericordia had a 27-3 advantage in points off turnovers and the Cougars bench outscored the Aggies bench, 46-2.
McCaffrey scored MU's first four points, including a layup high off the glass to ignite a 12-0 run and put the Cougars in front for good with 7:19 left in the first period.
Bondi hit a pull up jumper from the left baseline and
Elizabeth Fasti drained a three-pointer from the left win for a 9-2 lead.
Dowling drilled a three-pointer from the right wing and McCaffrey finished off a lob pass from
Melina Santacroce to put MU up 14-2 with 3:43 left in the opening period.
Morgan Haefele made a deep three-pointer from the left wing and followed with a jumper just inside the arc in the left corner for a 21-4 lead with 1:43 to go in the first quarter.
Dowling used a crossover dribble and drive from the left side for a layup and
Gianna Delfino found Santacroce cutting down the lane for a bucket to give the Cougars a 25-5 lead with :15 to go in the first period.
The Cougars gradually extended their lead in the second quarter and Bondi made it 37-18 with a three-pointer from the left corner with 2:12 to play.
Dowling made three free throws to make it 40-21 and the Cougars led 40-19 at halftime.
The Aggies pulled within 48-36 midway through the third quarter, but the Cougars responded with a 12-1 run over the next two minutes.
Bondi buried a three-pointer from in front of the MU bench and Dowling followed with a fast break layup for a 60-37 lead.
Chloe Captoni capped a 12-0 run with a three-pointer to give MU its biggest lead of the day, 76-49, with 3:15 to go.
The Cougars will host Wilkes, Wednesday.
