The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team dropped a tough 16-15 decision in overtime, Saturday afternoon at Arcadia.
Patrick Luzzi led the Cougars with five goals and three assists while
Robert Wagner had two goals, two assists and seven ground balls.
Jacob Miller caused four turnovers and
Garrett Heidecker picked up 11 ground balls.
Michael Kilgallon opened up the scoring for the Cougars with a goal at the 13:35 mark of the first period and the Cougars went on to take a 7-3 lead after one quarter.
Luzzi scored with 1:52 left in the second quarter to give the Cougars an 11-5 lead. After a Knights' goal with 1:36 left in the half, the Cougars took an 11-6 lead into halftime.
Arcadia out-scored the Cougars 6-1 in the third quarter to pull even, 12-12.
After Arcadia took the lead for the first time at the 10:57 mark of the fourth period, the Cougars went back in front on goals from Wagner and
Kyle Vandenberg just 12 seconds apart.
Arcadia scored twice in less than a minute to go up, 15-14, with 1:29 to play.
Luzzi scored off a pass from
Nick Torzilli in a man-up situation with 0:36 left to tie the game, 15-15, and force overtime.
Arcadia scored the winning goal with 2:12 left in overtime.
MU will travel to Lebanon Valley on Wednesday for a 4:00 PM game.
