Justine Johnson reached the 100-point mark for her career to lead the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team to an 18-6 win over Wilkes, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Johnson (2g, 4a) was one of three Misericordia players with six points.Â
Michelle Torzilli added five goals and an assist and
Taylor Hannaberry had two goals and four assists.
Genevieve Montanye added three goals and
Alyssa Delgadillo had two goals and an assist.
Torzilli led the Cougars with seven draw controls and
Molly Celesky had three caused turnovers.
Maggie McGovern made 12 saves in goal.
Johnson gave the Cougars an early lead off a nice feed from Hannaberry from behind the net.
Torzilli made it 2-0 with a goal from the same spot on another pass from Hannaberry.
Montanye came from behind the net to make it 3-0 with 26:04 to go in the first half.
Hannaberry's tough-angle shot deflected off the Wilkes goalie and
Lauren Weitzel bounced in a shot to give the Cougars a 5-0 lead.
Wilkes got on the board with a short-handed goal, but Montanye answered immediately off the draw control and the Cougars maintained a five-goal lead the rest of the way.
MU put the game away with seven straight goals in the second half.
The Cougars will wrap up the regular season when they host Arcadia, Saturday at 1:00
