The Misericordia University lacrosse team defeated Wilkes, 22-6, Saturday, to improve to 7-3 and clinch a first-round MAC postseason game.

Kyle Vandenberg led the Cougars with five goals and had two ground balls and Michael Killgallon had four goals and one assist.

David Giordano contributed three goals and two assists while
Robert Wagner had a goal and a team-high four assists and four ground balls.

Bryan DeGennaro had 17 saves in goal to secure the victory.

Kilgallon opened up the scoring with 8:37 left in the first quarter and Vandenberg added to goals as MU went on to build a 5-1 lead after 15 minutes.

Kilgallon scored his third goal of the game on a man-up opportunity with 0:57 left in the second quarter to give the Cougars a 10-2 halftime lead.

The Cougars led 14-4 late in the third quarter and put the game away with eight consecutive goals.

MU will travel to DeSales to wrap up their regular season, Wednesday at 7:00.
