The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team used a big fourth quarter to rally for a 16-12 win at DeSales in their regular season finale, Wednesday night at DeSales.

The Cougars scored six unanswered goals in the final period to overcome a two-goal deficit and clinch the third seed in the MAC Freedom Championships.

Robert Wagner had seven goals and an assist to lead the Cougars, who improved to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the MAC Freedom.

Kyle Vandenberg had four goals and an assist and
Nick Torzilli had two goals and two assists, including the game-tying and game-winning goals.

Pat Luzzi added two goals and an assist.

Bryan DeGennaro made 16 saves in goal.

DeSales grabbed a quick 2-0 lead, but Wagner and Vandenberg scored less than a minute apart to tie the score less than three minutes into the game.

The Bulldogs answered with two quick goals, but Wagner scored three straight in a two-minute span to give MU its first lead, 5-4, with 4:15 left in the first quarter.

DeSales scored late in the first to end the period tied, 5-5.

The teams traded goals throughout the second and third periods and DeSales eventually led 12-10 at the end of the third quarter.

Luzzi scored a man-up goal to open the fourth quarter and pull the Cougars within 12-11.

Torzilli pulled MU even with 9:19 to play and netted the game-winner two minutes later.

Wagner added an insurance goal with 3:39 to play and the Cougars tacked on two more goals in the final 1:16.

The Cougars will host Wilkes in the MAC Freedom quarterfinals, Saturday at 7:00.
