The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team advanced to the MAC Freedom semifinals with a 21-8 win over Arcadia, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Alyssa Delgadillo had five goals and two assists and
Lauren Weitzel had six goals and 11 draw controls to lead the Cougars.

Michelle Torzilli had five goals and an assist and
Justine Johnson had a goal and four assists as the Cougars improved to 9-3.

Molly Celesky and
Taylor Hannaberry both had two goals and an assist and
Emily Connell had four draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Maggie McGovern made five saves in 45 minutes in goal.

Michaela Ferlow led Arcadia with four goals and Hannah McAllister and Sarah Morris both scored two goals.

Mackenzie Hoffman and Skylar Acker both had five draw controls for the Knights.

Torzilli gave the Cougars an early lead with a free-position goal in the opening minute and Weitzel caused a turnover, scooped up the ground ball and scored to make it 2-0 just over a minute later.

Celesky took a pass in front from Torzilli and used a nice spin move and scored less than 30 seconds later to give MU a 3-0 lead.

Morris scored back-to-back goals to get Arcadia within 3-2 with 25:42 to go in the first half.

Celesky answered from 10 yards out with a low shot inside the left post at 21:51, but Ferlow scored for the Knights one minute later.

Torzilli came from behind the net to give the Cougars a 5-3 lead at 17:17 and Ferlow scored again with 16:26 to go.

Johnson found Torzilli in stride down the middle and she ripped a shot under the bar for a 6-4 lead.

Weitzel scored four of the next five goals as the Cougars took an 11-4 lead with 7:04 left in the first half.

Hannaberry forced a turnover and found Delgadillo for a short-handed goal as the Cougars took a 12-4 lead late in the first half.

Delgadillo scored four times as the Cougars stretched their lead to 18-4 midway through the second half.

Arcadia scored three straight goals in a three-minute span, but MU answered with three consecutive goals for a 21-7 lead.

Misericordia will host Stevens, Thursday at 7:00.
