The Misericordia women's volleyball team captured its first and second victories of the season with a sweep of John Jay and Wells College, Saturday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.

The Cougars took down John Jay 25-12, 25-20, 25-26. 

Faith Merritt had a game high 13 kills. Shelby Hastings had four blocks, two coming on back-to-back plays at the end of the third set.  

Annika Massa finished with five service aces and 21 assists. Allison Swartz and Fiona Pyfer finished with six digs each and Pyfer recorded four kills. 

Misericordia defeated Wells 25-16, 25-17, 25-22. 

Merritt once again led the team with 12 kills and six aces.  Alexa Monro delivered three aces and Massa had 30 assists and eight digs.  Jessica Cleveland finished with seven digs and an assist.  

The Cougars return to MAC Freedom action when they host Stevens, Tuesday at 7:00.
