The Misericordia University women's volleyball team dropped a tough 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-27) decision at Drew in non-conference action, Thursday.

Faith Merritt had 15 kills, four aces and 17 digs while and
Fiona Pyfer added 14 kills and two blocks.

Jess Oltman had six kills and
Annika Massa had 38 assists and 12 digs.

Allison Swartz had 17 digs and
Lena Eldrenkamp had four blocks.
Â
Drew jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the opening set, but the Cougars answered with six straight points. Eldrenkamp had two kills to start the run and Drew had four straight errors as MU pulled within 15-11.

Two kills by Merritt and a pair of aces from Pyfer tied the score, 21-21, but the Rangers scored for of the next five points to win 25-22.

Neither team led by more than two points throughout the second set until Drew closed on a 5-2 run to win 25-21.

The Cougars never trailed in the third set as they stayed alive with a 25-23 win.

The teams traded points throughout the fourth set as neither team led by more than two points.

Merritt and Oltman had kills to give the Cougars a 23-21 lead, but Drew rallied to score four of the next five points.

MU pulled even at 25-25, but the Rangers scored two straight points to clinch the win.

Misericordia will play at tri-match with Hood at McDaniel, Saturday.
