The Misericordia University women's volleyball team swept a tri-match with Hood at McDaniel, Saturday.

The Cougars won both matches by 3-1 scores.

Fiona Pyfer led the Cougars with 19 kills while
Faith Merritt had 12 and
Katie Kraeker added 10 against Hood.

Annika Massa had 49 assists and
Allison Swartz had 16 digs.

Against McDaniel, Merritt had 11 kills and Pyfer had 10.Â
Lena Eldrenkamp had seven kills and six blocks.

Massa had 34 assists.

After dropping the opener to Hood, 25-18, the Cougars took three straight, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15.

In the second set,
Jessica Oltman had two kills as the Cougars used a 5-1 run to pull even, 20-20.

Down 23-21, two kills from Kraeker and two Hood errors clinched a 25-23 win.

Trailing 19-16 in the third set, MU came out of a timeout and sandwiched two kills from Merritt around kills from Pyfer and Oltman to tie the score, 20-20.

Two kills from Pyfer and a Hood error made it 23-21 and Kraeker scored two of the final points of the set to win 25-23.

The Cougars jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the finale and never looked back.

Against McDaniel, the Cougars won the first two sets, 25-21, 25-23 before dropping the third set, 25-20. The Cougars won 25-19 in the fourth set to clinch the win.

Merritt had two aces as part of a 4-0 run to give MU an 18-16 lead in the opener against McDaniel.

Leading 23-21, Eldrenkamp and Merritt combined for a block and
Jessica Cleveland closed the set with an ace.

In the second set, Merritt broke a 23-23 tie with a kill and an ace.

Merritt had three straight kills to give the Cougars a 23-18 lead in the finale.

MU will return to MAC Freedom play when they host Lycoming, Wednesday.
