The Misericordia University women's basketball team used a big second half to record a 72-51 win over Lycoming, Wednesday night on Doc Mould Court.
The Cougars out-scored Lycoming 20-4 in the third quarter to extend their one-point halftime lead.
Alyssa Bondi led all scorers with 25 points and
Melina Santacroce added 12 points.
Gianna Delfino had a team-high 10 rebounds and
Skylar Bianchi added eight points and eight rebounds.
Bondi opened the third quarter with a three-pointer from the top of the key to ignite a 16-2 run
Delfino had a steal at midcourt and found Bondi for a layup and Santacroce cut down the middle of the lane for a layup from Bondi.
After a Lycoming bucket, Bianchi made a short jumper in the lane and took a half-court pass from
Elizabeth Fasti to make it 41-31.
Morgan Haefele found Bondi at the top of the key for a three-pointer and Bondi followed with a jumper for a 46-31 lead.
Delfino followed with two free throws to extend MU's lead to 48-31 lead with 1:20 left in the third period.
Bondi drilled back-to-back three-pointers to open the fourth quarter and Santacroce's lay-up gave MU a 60-35 lead.
The first quarter was back-and-forth with Bondi and Haefele hitting back-to-back corner three-pointers to end the stanza with MU up 17-10.
The Warriors got within one late in the second quarter and trailed 30-29 at halftime before MU pulled away in the second half.
The Cougars improved to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the MAC Freedom and will visit Delaware Valley, Saturday.
