The Misericordia University men's soccer team won a battle of regionally-ranked teams with a 3-1 win over Lycoming, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Max Gariano had a goal and an assist and
Drew Weaver and Brandon Ebersole added goals as the Cougars improved to 8-1-4 overall and 3-0 in the MAC Freedom.

Andrew Daubenspeck made seven saves for the Cougars.

MU struck twice in the first 10 minutes and added an insurance goal late in the second half.

Gariano gathered a loose ball on the left side of the box and slotted a ball across the goal inside the right post for a 1-0 lead at 4:20.

Weaver headed home a corner from
Luke Ferrarese at the right post for a 2-0 lead at 9:18.

Lycoming cut the margin in half just three minutes later and the score stood for more than 70 minutes.

Daubenspeck came off his line several times in the first half to clear balls from in front and he made a leaping save on a free kick from 35 yards out at 36:07 to keep the Cougars in front.

With Lycoming a man-down for much of the second half, the Warriors best chance came on a free kick at 68:58, but Daubenspeck again tipped the shot over the bar to maintain the lead.

Gariano and Ebersole executed a give-and-go on the left side of the box and Ebersole beat the keeper with a well-placed shot inside the right post at 84:39.

Misericordia improved to 8-1-4 overall and 3-0 in the MAC Freedom while handing the Warriors their first conference loss.
