The Misericordia University volleyball team won its third straight match with a 3-1 victory at Elmira, Wednesday night.

The Cougars won 25-11, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12 to improve to 16-6.

Faith Merritt had 13 kills, 11 digs and two aces and
Fiona Pyfer had nine kills.Â
Delaney Boyd had five aces and
Jenna Schuda had 27 assists and three aces.

Kills by Hastings and Merritt capped an 8-0 run as the Cougars took a 13-4 lead in the opening set.

Two aces from Merritt extended the lead to 17-6 and the Cougars scored fourth straight points to close the set.

In a back-and-forth second set, Boyd had two aces as the Cougars scored four straight points to take a 20-19 lead.

The Eagles scored five straight points and then held off an MU rally to win, 25-22.

Elmira rallied to get within 21-20 in the third set, but Pyfer had three kills down the stretch to clinch a 25-22 win.

Down 4-3 in the finale, the Cougars scored seven straight points and never looked back.
