The Misericordia University volleyball team improved to 4-2 in the MAC Freedom with a sweep at King's, Wednesday night.
Fiona Pyfer had a team-high 11 kills and nine digs as the Cougars won 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 to improve to 18-7 overall. The Cougars clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom Tournament.
Shelby Hastings added six kills and three blocks and
Adele Decker had five kills.
Jenna Schuda had 30 assists and blocks.
Down 19-17 in the opener, the Cougars scored eight straight points to win 25-19.
Sophie Winter had four kills, including the clincher, and
Faith Merritt had two aces to fuel the rally.
The Cougars never trailed in the second set and used kills by Pyfer and Hastings and block by the duo to build a 12-5 lead.
An ace by
Annika Massa and a kill by Pyfer stretched the lead to 24-13 and the Cougars held off a late King's rally to win 25-17.
MU trailed 8-3 in the finale, but charged back to take an 11-9 lead.
Two aces from Schuda put the Cougars up 17-11 and King's never got closer than five points.
Misericordia will host Elizabethtown and McDaniel, Saturday.
