Alyssa Bondi scored 21 points and Gianna Delfino had a double-double to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to a 67-59 win over Cabrini in the first round of the National Beef Tournament, Saturday night at Susquehanna.
Delfino had 14 points and 11 rebounds while Melina Santacroce added 12 points and seven rebounds. Meaghan McCaffrey had a team-high eight rebounds.
Bondi opened the game with a three-pointer and the Cougars never trailed.
The score was tied late in the first quarter and Elizabeth Fasti put MU ahead for good, 17-15, with a pair of free throws with less than a minute to go.
Misericordia opened a double digit lead midway though the second quarter and took a 34-26 lead into halftime.
The Cougars used a big third quarter to put the game away as they built a 57-36 lead late in the period.
Misericordia, 4-0, will face Susquehanna, Sunday at 3:00.
