Kevin Lazdowsky scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 75-60 win over King's in their MAC Freedom opener, Sunday afternoon on Doc Mould Court.
Lazdowsky grabbed 11 rebounds to earn a double-double along with
Nick Prociak who had 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Misericordia never trailed while improving to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the MAC Freedom.
The Cougars led 32-28 at halftime, but steadily pulled away in the second half while shooting 57.7% (15-26) from the floor over the final 20 minutes.
Dewin Concepcion opened the second half with a three-pointer from the right corner and
Joseph Baldachino followed with a deep three from the left wing for a 38-30 lead just over a minute into the second half.
Lazdowsky made a layup off an inbounds pass and added a spin move on the right block to give the Cougars a 44-33 lead with 15:59 to play.
King's cut it to 51-46 midway through the half, but the Cougars answered with six straight points.
Kreitzer scored on a slashing layup from the left side and converted the three-point play and Lazdowsky drilled a wide-open three from the left win to make it 57-46 with 10:30 to play.
King's got within 57-51 on a three-pointer from J.J. Walsh, but Misericordia responded with an 8-0 run to put the game away.
The Cougars led from wire-to-wire as Lazdowsky nailed a three-pointer from the left corner for the game's first points.
Dewin Concepcion and Prociak hit back-to-back three-pointers to give MU a 13-6 lead with 14:03 to play in the first half.
The teams traded baskets throughout much of the first half and the Cougars took a 32-28 halftime lead on Kreitzer's driving layup to beat the buzzer.
Misericordia will travel to Stevens, Saturday.
