The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team overcame an early deficit for the second straight game to defeat Susquehanna, 14-9, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Kyle Vandenberg led the Cougars with five goals and two assists and
Robert Wagner added three goals and two assists.
Ryan Vandenberg had two goals and two assists and
Michael Kilgallon III had two goals and an assist.
Jared Pelliccione had a goal and two assists.
Wagner had a team-high seven ground balls while K. Vandenberg and Kilgallon had five and four, respectively.
Chris Straub had 10 saves as the Cougars improved to 2-0.
Susquehanna jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter, but the Cougars answered with three straight goals early in the second period.
Wagner found K. Kilgallon on the right wing and Kilgallon placed a shot in side the right post before
Carson Venis tallied a man-up goal from 17 yards out to get MU within 5-4 with 11:30 left in the second period.
After a Susquehanna goal, the Cougars scored three straight to take a 7-6 halftime lead.
MU tallied three straight goals in the third to stretch the lead to 10-6 with 7:12 to go.
The River Hawks got within 11-8 after three periods, the Vandenbergs combined for three goals in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
