MU Women's Lax Falls to Leb Val

A late game threat came up just short as the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team fell to Lebanon Valley, 10-9, Tuesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Genevieve Montanye scored a career-high five goals and picked up two ground balls while Molly Celesky scored two goals and picked up three ground balls.

Maggie McGovern tied her career-high with 21 saves. 

Justine Johnson scored a goal and had two assists. Rachel Shook and Alyssa Delgadillo each scored a goal Shook and Keira Andrews caused two turnovers. 

Misericordia came out firing on all cylinders and scored four goals in the first seven minutes. Celesky scored twice and Montanye and Shook added goals while McGovern made five saves during the Cougars' hot start. 

McGovern made back-to-back saves late in the second period which led to a Montanye goal with only four seconds remaining in the half to give the Cougars a 5-4 lead. 

Montanye scored on a free position shot to kick off the third period and McGovern led a defensive stand with three saves in one possession to keep the scored tied, 7-7.Lebanon Valley scored three of the next four goals to take a 10-8 lead with 2:40 remaining.

The Cougars made a last push with 21 seconds remaining after another Montanye shot found the back net.  MU won the ensuing draw control, but was unable to get a shot off. 

Misericordia will travel to Widener, Saturday.
