Santino Manganella and
Joe Comins combined for eight hits and seven RBI as the Misericordia University baseball team defeated Dickinson, 15-4, Tuesday.
Manganella was 5-6 with five RBI and Comins had three hits and three RBI.
Max Oliver worked 5.1 innings to earn the win with relief help from
Brendan Gray, Jaden Cioffi and
Kyle Kane.
The Cougars trailed 2-0 after three innings before scoring all of their runs over the next five innings.
A typical MU rally got the Cougars on the board in the top of the fourth inning.Â
Brady Madden was hit by a pitch and
Derrick Vosburg and
Austin Miles walked before all three runners advanced on a wild pitch. Comins' two-out single through the left side gave the Cougars a 3-2 lead.
The Cougars tacked on four runs in their next at bat.Â
Connor Maryniak drew a lead-off walk and
Garrett McIlhenney reached on a bunt single. Manganella singled in a run and Madden and Vosburg were both plunked to force in another run.Â
Owen VanNewkirk made it 6-3 with a sacrifice fly and Comins followed with an RBI-single to left.
Manganella had a two-run double in the sixth and Madden followed with a run-scoring single to stretch the lead to 10-2.
Manganella had an RBI-single and the Cougars took advantage of two Dickinson errors in the seventh to make it 13-2.
An RBI-walk and a ground out closed out MU's scoring in the eighth.
