Molly Celesky scored five goals and Kylee Cush had a goal and five assists as the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team beat Lycoming in their MAC Freedom opener, 18-5, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
Alyssa Grieco and Rachel Shook had three goals and an assist and Savannah Winpigler had two goals and two assists.
 
Makenzie Tumini had nine draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers and Shook added seven draw controls.
 
Maggie McGovern made 14 saves in goal.
 
Celesky scored twice and Grieco and Shook added goals as the Cougars took a 4-1 lead after one period.
 
Lycoming scored two quick goals in the second period, but the Cougars answered with six straight goals to regain control.
 
Grieco scored on a low shot in front of the net and Emily Baro finished a pass near the left post to make it 6-3.
 
Celesky sandwiched a pair of goals around Shook's goal off a loose ball to give MU a 9-3 lead.
 
Samantha Mahoney went the length of the field for a goal as part of a 7-0 MU run to end the game.
 
The Cougars will host Delaware Valley, Saturday.
