The Misericordia University baseball team scored in each of the last six innings and rode a solid outing from
Isaac Snyder to beat Heidelberg, 13-3, Sunday in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Snyder scattered four hits and struck out five over seven innings and
Brendan Gray and
Dante Viola both worked a shutout inning in relief.
Jason Sanfilippo had a home run and five RBI and
Brady Madden had three hits.Â
Garrett McIlhenney and
Santino Manganella added two hits each.
Madden singled to open the fourth inning and
Austin Miles was hit by a pitch for Sanfilippo put the Cougars in front with a three-run homer.
Heidelberg scored in the bottom of the fourth, but the Cougars answered in the top of the fifth. Manganella reached on an error and eventually scored on Madden's two-out single to make it 4-1.
After Heidelberg got one back in the bottom of the fifth, MU made it 7-2 with three runs in the top of the sixth.
Joe Comins reached via hit by pitch and
Mike Murphy walked. Comins later came home on the throw when Murphy stole second.
McIlhenney drove in a run with an infield single and came around on Manganella's double.
Madden and Miles reached on hit by pitch to start the seventh and pulled off a double steal before Sanfilippo's RBI-ground out.
Derrick Vosburg had an RBI-ground out and Sanfilippo had an RBI-single as part of a three-run eighth inning.
Colin Telford and
Jared Hoffman had RBI in the ninth inning.
The Cougars will play Wittenberg, Monday at 4:00.
