The Misericordia University baseball team rallied for an 18-11 slugfest win over Wittenberg, Monday in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Santino Manganella had four hits and Brendan Gray had three hits and four RBI as the Cougars overcame a first-inning 6-0 deficit.
Brady Madden and Austin Miles had three hits each and Garrett McIlhenney, Derrick Vosburg and Joe Comins all added two hits as the Cougars battered eight Wittenberg pitcher for 19 hits.
Kyle Kane struck out seven in three perfect innings of relief to earn the win.
After falling behind 6-0 in the first inning, McIlhenney, Vosburg and Miles were all hit by pitch to help the Cougars get a run back in the bottom of the frame.
Madden had an RBI-single in the second and McIlhenney belted a two-run homer in the fourth to cut the margin to 8-4.
MU erupted for seven runs in the fifth to take an 11-8 lead. Gray, Manganella and Vosburg all had RBI-singles and Madden added a run-scoring triple.
Gray had an RBI-triple and Miles added a two-run double as part of a five-run sixth as MU stretched its lead to 16-8.
Gray's two-run double closed out the scoring in the eighth.
Misericordia will face Marietta, Tuesday morning.
