Second-ranked Marietta came from behind to defeat the Misericordia University baseball team, 10-2, Tuesday in Port Charlotte, Florida.
The Cougars led 2-1 after four innings, but Marietta scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to ahead before tacking on insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Derrick Vosburg and
Austin Miles both had two hits for the Cougars.
Joe Valenti scattered six hits and allowed just two earned runs over 6.1 innings.
Vosburg singled up the middle t open the second inning and moved to second on Miles' single through the left side.
Both runners advanced on
Brendan Gray's sacrifice bunt and Vosburg gave MU a 1-0 lead on a squeeze bunt by
Jason Sanfilippo.
Owen VanNewkirk doubled down the left field line to start the fourth and Madden reached on an error.
Vosburg singled through the right side to load the bases and Miles put the Cougars up 2-1 with a sacrifice fly.
The Cougars will face Ohio Wesleyan, Wednesday.
