Joe Comins drove in four runs and
David McCurry pitched six shutout innings as the Misericordia University baseball team's defeated King's, 14-4, Wednesday at Tambur Field.
MU's starting nine all reached base at least once and seven different Cougars recorded an RBI.
Connor Maryniak finished 2-2 with a walk, two RBI and a home run.
Derrick Vosburg and
Brock Bollinger went yard and drove in two runs.
Austin Miles finished 2-3 with a double and Garrett McIlhenny went 2-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Brendan Gray had a double and scored two runs.
MU's first four batters reached base in the first inning. The Cougars scored just five pitches into the game when McIlhenny scored on a Comins RBI-single to right field. Comins scored on a Madden RBI-single in the next at-bat and Vosburg teed off on a two-run shot to right field.
The bottom third of the lineup reached to load the bases for McIlhenny, who delivered a two-run single. Comins followed with a two-run single of his own as the Cougars put up eight runs in the first inning.
Vosburg walked to start the second inning and Bollinger went yard to deep left-center for his first collegiate home run.
Maryniak led off the third inning with a double to left-center and scored on a Comins groundout.
Gray doubled to right-center in the bottom of the fifth and Maryniak homered to left in the next at-bat.
Owen VanNewkirk scored on a
Jack Regenye RBI-groundout in the sixth.
McCurry surrendered just five hits over six innings with five strikeouts to earn the win.
Misericordia will play a doubleheader at King's tomorrow afternoon.
