Chris Blum has been named the head softball coach at Misericordia University,
Chuck Edkins, director of athletics has announced.
"I am pleased to welcome Chris to Misericordia University," said Edkins. "He has a proven record as a winner throughout his coaching career. His knowledge, passion and experience will help our softball program expand on its winning tradition."
Blum spent the last two seasons as an assistant softball coach at Kutztown University where he helped the Golden Bears to two straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Kutztown was 40-15 in 2022 and won the PSAC championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II Super Regionals.
Previously, Blum spent 17 seasons as the head baseball coach at Kutztown where he compiled more than 500 career wins.
"I am excited to embark on a new chapter in my coaching career at Misericordia," said Blum. "I can't thank the administration and athletics personnel enough for the opportunity to lead the Misericordia softball program. It is gratifying to be at a college where every sport and student-athlete is valued by the school and administration. I look forward to continuing the successful tradition that Misericordia athletics has established throughout the campus, community and conference."
Misericordia finished 27-9 and earned the top seed in the MAC Freedom championships in 2022.
Blum earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Elizabethtown where he helped the Blue Jays to a MAC championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
