The Misericordia University women's volleyball team won its sixth straight match with a 3-1 win over MAC Freedom opponent Wilkes, Wednesday night on Doc Mould Court.
MU won 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23.
Fiona Pyfer had a team-high 17 kills and eight digs while
Faith Merritt recorded 13 kills along with a team-high 14 digs.
Jenna Schuda had 31 assists, six kills, nine digs, and a game-high six service aces.
Jessica Cleveland added three aces.
The Cougars found themselves at a 20-20 tie after a back-and-forth start to the opening set. A big swing from Pyfer gave MU a late lead. Â Merritt put the set away after an acrobatic assist from Schuda kept the rally alive.
Misericordia started hot in the second set, scoring the first four points.
MU went on a 7-0 run later in the set with Schuda and Pyfer each providing kills.
Misericordia's offense got off to a slow start in set three before scoring seven consecutive points. Hastings had a kill during the run and Schuda added back-to-back aces. Â
A massive swing from Merritt made the set 17-9.
Sarah Kelly provided a clutch kill thanks to a perfectly placed assist from
Annika Massa for the Cougars' 23rd point.
In the fourth set,
Sadie Stockslager added a crafty kill to make the score 15-11.
Tied 22-22, the Cougars scored three consecutive points and Pyfer put the set and match away with a kill.

The Cougars will play a tri-match with Moravian and Marywood, Saturday.
