The Misericordia University women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to eight matches with a sweep of a tri-match with Moravian at Marywood, Saturday.
In a 3-1 win over Moravian,
Fiona Pyfer had 19 kills and
Meghan Peters added 11.
Jenna Schuda had 31 assists, eight kills and four aces and
Jessica Cleveland had eight aces and 22 digs.
Pyfer added 14 kills in a sweep of Marywood and
Sadie Stockslager had 13 kills and three aces.
Annika Massa had 28 assists, nine digs and three aces.
The Cougars dropped the first set to the Greyhounds, 25-19 but rattled off three straight wins, 25-10, 25-12, 25-16.
Trailing 15-10 in the opener, Peters had two kills and Cleveland had two aces to fuel a 7-0 run to give MU a 17-15 lead.
Moravian answered with eight straight points to go back in front.
Up 10-8 in the second set, the Cougars scored 11 straight points thanks to three aces by Cleveland.
Three more aces from Cleveland ignited a 9-0 spurt in the third set as the Cougars built a 19-10 lead before closing the set with five consecutive points.
In the clincher, Schuda had three aces as the Cougars opened with six straight points and never looked back.
Against Marywood, Stockslager had three aces and a kill as the Cougars closed the opening set on a 5-1 run.
Stockslager closed out a back-and-forth second set with a kill for a 25-21 win.
After trailing early in the third set, the Cougars rallied to pull even, 18-18, and closed the match on a 7-2 run thanks to three straight kills from Pyfer.
MU is 12-3 and will return to Scranton to face the University of Scranton, Tuesday.
