Melina Santacroce had a double double as the Misericordia University women's basketball team beat Arcadia, 49-41, in a key MAC Freedom contest, Saturday.
Santacroce had 10 points and 10 rebounds and the Cougars won their fifth straight game to improve to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in the MAC Freedom. The Cougars are 1.5 games ahead of Arcadia in the MAC Freedom standings.
Down 15-11 early in the second quarter, the Cougars held the Knights scoreless over the final 8:58 of the period to take a 19-15 lead and never trailed again.
Fasti's jumper gave MU a 28-19 lead midway through the third quarter and the Cougars led 33-27 heading to fourth quarter.
Arcadia got within 33-30 early in the fourth quarter, but Fasti and Delfino both nailed three-pointers to extend the lead to 39-32.
Fasti added another three-pointer with 3:00 remaining to maintain MU's advantage.
The Cougars will visit King's, Wednesday.
