The Misericordia University men's soccer team salvaged a 1-1 draw with Delaware Valley, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Â
Despite carrying the playing and dominating the stat sheet, the Cougars needed some second-half heroics to earn the tie.
Â
After allowing a goal on Delaware Valley's first shot of the game in the opening minutes, the Cougars fired a barrage of shots on and around the goal the rest of the way.
Â
Justin Yarabinee netted the tying goal with an assist from
Richard Billings at 63:16.
Â
The Cougars had several near-misses throughout the contest, including hitting two posts and two crossbars.
Â
MU held a commanding 31-4 advantage in shots, including 12-2 on goal. The Cougars took 11 corner kicks while not allowing any.
Â
After
Luke Ferrarese was denied the tying goal on a leaping save in the 63
rd minute, the Cougars finished on their next opportunity less than a minute later.
Â
Billings settled a loose ball to Yarabinee's feet and he buried into the upper right corner from eight yards out to get the Cougars on the board.
