eThe Misericordia University football team scored on the first play from scrimmage and never looked back in a 38-9 win over Albright, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Lamontae Wilson returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown on the game's first play. Wilson made a leaping grab at the Albright 35-yard line, cut across the field and raced inside the right pylon for a 7-0 lead just 18 seconds into the game.

Owen McGuffey sandwiched a pair of touchdown receptions around a Colton Peischl touchdown run and
Jacob Hunter added a 30-yard scoring run.

McGuffey had five receptions for 110 yards and Hunter ran for 120 yards on 17 carries.

T.J. Lattimore threw for two scores.

Xander Shaner had seven tackles and
Drew Eisenhower had four tackles, including two sacks.

After Wilson's score, the team's traded punts on the next two possessions with
Chris Moyer pinning the Lions at their own three-yard line with 10:41 to go in the first quarter.

On second down, Eisenhower came untouched a blitz around the left tackle to record Misericordia's third safety in their last two home games for a 9-0 lead.

Later in the first quarter, after a holding penalty wiped out a nice run by
Jacob Hunter, Lattimore hit a streaking McGuffey for a 45-yard touchdown down the middle and the Cougars converted a two-point conversion to take a 17-0 lead with 4:41 left in the first quarter.

Following another Albright punt, the Cougars took over at their own 46 with 12:39 to go in the first half. Hunter pitched to
L.T. Messick for an eight-yard gain around right end on first down and then broke a tackle for a 25-yard gain around left end on the next play.

Three more carries by Hunter set up first-and-goal from the four and Peischl plowed up the middle for the score and a 24-0 lead with 9:17 to play in the second quarter.

Shaner and
Patrick Murphy stuffed the Lions on fourth-and-three near midfield in the final minute of the first half and the Cougars got the ball back with 16 seconds to play. Â Lattimore hit a wide-open McGuffey down the middle again for a 50-yard TD and a 31-0 lead with three seconds to go before halftime.

Albright got its only touchdown on an interception return for a score midway through the third quarter and the Cougars answered early in the fourth quarter.

Starting in Albright territory following a Lions' punt, Hunter had two carries to set up second-and-seven at the 30. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Hunter went around right end, bounced a tackle and raced to the right pylon for MU's final points.

Albright added a safety late in the fourth quarter.

Misericordia will conclude its home schedule when they host Delaware Valley for Senior Appreciation Day, Saturday at noon.
