The Misericordia University men's basketball team used a big second half to improve to 2-0 with a 73-63 win at Centenary, Saturday.
Down 34-25 early in the second half, the Cougars chipped away and went ahead for good, 42-41, on R.J. Weise's three-pointer with 11:52 to play.
Weise hit another three-pointer to cap a 13-0 run to take a 53-41 lead with 8:50 remaining.
Dewin Concepcion led the Cougars with 13 points and
Nick Hornung added 12 points.
Kevin Lazdowsky had 11 points and
Derek Smith added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Lazdowsky opened the scoring with a free throw in the game's first minute for the Cougars only lead of the first half.
The Cyclones built a 22-11 lead late in the first half, but the Cougars used a 5-0 run over the final 1:34 to get within 30-25.
After Centenary scored the first four points of the second half, Smith scored five points and
Nate Kreitzer added a layup as the Cougars rallied to take a 39-38 lead with 14:25 remaining.
Centenary went back in front, 41-39, but Weise's three-pointer put MU in front for good. With 11:52 to play.
Weise and Concepcion combined for 10 points as the Cougars stretched their lead to 58-43 with 7:54 to go.
