The Misericordia University men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, 67-66, at Eastern, Saturday afternoon.
Kevin Lazdowsky scored a game-high 29 points and added seven rebounds and eight assists.Â
Nick Prociak scored 12 points and
Joseph Baldachino added 10.
In a game that featured 17 lead changes, Eastern went ahead for good, 63-62, with 1:58 to play.
Down 65-62,
Derek Smith scored on a fastbreak to get within a point with 1:08 remaining.
Following an Eastern basket, Lazdowsky scored on putback to pull within 67-66 with three seconds to go.
The Cougars sent Eastern to the free throw line and got a rebound with two seconds to go, but MU's inbounds pass was intercepted near mid-court as time expired.
A layup by Prociak and a jumper by R.J. Wiese gave the Cougars the biggest lead of the game, 19-12, midway through the first half.
Eastern rallied to take a 34-33 halftime lead and neither team led by more than three points throughout the second half.
Misericordia is 5-1 and will host Cabrini, Wednesday.
