The Misericordia University men's basketball team wrapped up its west coast trip with a 94-82 loss to Whitman, Thursday afternoon in Walla Walla, WA.
Nate Kreitzer scored 21 points to lead four Cougars in double figures while
Joseph Baldachino added 17 points.
Nick Hornung scored 12 and
Kevin Lazdowsky had 10.
The Cougars shot 50.8% from the floor, including 50.0% from three-point range as Kreitzer and Baldachino combined for nine three pointers.
Tied 65-65 midway through the second half, Whitman went on a 25-8 run over the next seven minutes to take a 90-73 lead with 3:46 to play.
The Cougars fell behind 36-22 with 6:09 left in the first half, but closed the half on a 19-6 run to get within a point at intermission.
Will Anozie started the spurt with a dunk and a layup and Baldachino hit a three-pointer to get within 39-29.
Nick Prociak converted a three-point play and
Nick Hornung sandwiched a pair of buckets around a Kreitzer three-pointer to cut the deficit to four.
Baldachino ended the first-half scoring with a three-pointer to pull within 42-41.
The teams traded baskets early in the second half and the Cougars took their last lead, 59-58, on a Lazdowsky layup with 12:56 to play.
