Alyssa Bondi and
Jocelyn Grosch combined for 68% of the Misericordia University women's basketball team's offense as the Cougars returned to action with a 62-55 win over Hunter, Friday evening in the Hoops for Hounds Tournament at Lycoming.
Bondi scored a team-high 22 points and Grosch added 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Skylar Bianchi had eight points and eight rebounds and
Skylar Dowling added nine assists.
MU jumped out to a 23-11 lead after one period, but Hunter rallied to pull even at halftime, 32-32.
Tied 46-46 after three periods, Bondi opened the fourth quarter with a jumper as the Cougars scored eight straight points to take the lead for good.
Grosch scored three straight baskets during the spurt to give MU a 54-46 lead with 6:18 to play.
Grosch and Dowling combined for six free throws over the final three minutes to secure the win.
