The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped its final non-conference game of the year, 65-41, to Hiram at the Hoops for Hounds Tournament at Lycoming.
Jocelyn Grosch had a team-high 11 points and
Skylar Bianchi added 10 points for MU.
Hiram opened the game with two straight buckets before Bianchi got MU on the board with a three-pointer.
Down 12-6 late in the first quarter,
Alyssa Bondi hit a three-pointer with 1:52 to play and
Skylar Dowling made a jumper in the final minute to get MU within 14-11 after one period.
Grosch made two free throws to open the second period to pull within 14-13.
Hiram made a three-pointer and Grosch followed with a layup to cut the margin to 19-17 with 7:26 to go in the first half. Hiram scored six straight points and eventually built a 40-27 halftime lead.
The Cougars were held to just 14 points in the second half.
Misericordia will open MAC Freedom play at Delaware Valley, Wednesday.
