For the second time this, Lycoming overcame a double-digit deficit to defeat the Misericordia University men's basketball team, Tuesday. The Warriors made two three-pointers in the final 14 seconds of regulation to force overtime and went on to an 86-79 win.
Kevin Lazdowsky played all 45 minutes and led the Cougars with 21 points while
Nate Kreitzer and
Matt Prociak had 15 points each.
Dewin Concepcion added 10 points.
After building a 40-36 lead at halftime, Lazdowsky hit back-to-back three-pointers to open the second half to stretch the lead to 46-36.
Concepcion hit a three-pointer and
Nick Hornung added a layup to give MU its biggest lead of the night, 53-39, with 13:28 to play.
The Cougars maintained a double-digit lead until the 8:02 mark. Lyco pulled with 63-62 with 4:11 to play, but Hornung and Prociak answered with buckets for a 67-65 lead with 2:03 to go.
Both teams made two free throws and the Cougars led 69-64 with :21 left.
Lycoming hit two three-pointers to force OT and never trailed in the extra session.
Misericordia will host FDU-Florham with a chance to clinch a postseason berth, Saturday at 3:00.
