The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped a 67-51 decision to #9 DeSales in MAC Freedom action, Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Center.
Skylar Dowling led the Cougars with 13 points on 3-5 shooting from behind the arc.
Melina Santacroce and
Gianna Delfino added eight points each.
After DeSales built a 21-10 lead at the end of one quarter, both teams went on a five-minute scoreless streak in the middle of the second quarter and DeSales led 33-20 at halftime.
The Cougars made a charge early in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 61-48 with 4:39 to go. Dowling led the way with back-to-back three-pointers and a pair of free throws as she scored eight straight points for the Cougars.
Fasti added two free throws and Santacroce scored four straight points, but the Cougars never got any closer.
Elizabeth and
Alyssa Bondi hit early three-pointers as the Cougars trailed 8-6 midway through the first period.
After a long drought in the second quarter, Dowling and
Skylar Bianchi both made a pair of free throws late in the second quarter to keep the Cougars within 13 points at halftime.
DeSales extended its lead in the third quarter before MU made a run early in the fourth period.
MU will host Wilkes, Wednesday.
