The Misericordia University baseball team closed out its opening conference series with a 16-10 win over King's, Monday afternoon at Volpe Field at the University of Scranton.

Joe Valenti struck out 10 over six innings to earn the win. The Cougars scored in all but one inning and built a 13-2 lead through seven innings.

King's rallied for seven runs in the eighth, but the Cougars answered with three in the bottom of the frame to put the game away.

Brady Madden led the Cougars with three hits and four RBI and
Brock Bollinger added three hits and scored three runs.

Joe Comins had two hits and three RBI and
Derrick Vosburg had two hits and two RBI, including a solo homer.

Garrett McIlhenney drew a walk to lead-off the bottom of the first and scored on Bollinger's double to right center. Madden doubled to left field to make it 2-0.

The Cougars made it 5-0 in the second on a sacrifice fly by McIlhenney and a two-run single by Comins.

After King's got a pair of runs back, the Cougars scored three times with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Comins drove in a run with a single to right center and Madden made it 8-2 with a two-run double to left center.

Connor Maryniak tripled to lead off the fifth and scored on
Brendan Gray's sac fly to make it 9-2.

Madden singled in a run in the sixth and Vosburg doubled him home and later scored on a wild pitch to stretch the lead to 12-2.

Gabe Bunn doubled to open the seventh and scored on
Jeff Policarpio's sacrifice fly to make it 13-2.

King's pulled with 13-9 in the top of the eighth, but the Cougars responded with three runs in the bottom half. Following Vosburg's solo homer,
Josh Burger doubled and
Jack Regenye and
Jared Hoffman walked to load the bases.

Bunn drove in a run with a sac fly and pinch-runner
Kyle Sincavage scored the final run on a double steal.

The Cougars improved to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the MAC Freedom and will travel to Swarthmore, Tuesday.
