DeSales scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Misericordia University baseball team, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon in Center Valley.
Joe Valenti struck out 11 and held the Bulldogs to five hits and two runs over eight innings, but didn't factor in the decision.
Brock Bollinger,
Derrick Vosburg and
Brendan Gray all had two hits for the Cougars.
After falling behind 1-0 in the third, the Cougars tied the game in the fifth.Â
Nick Giardino drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored on Bollinger's two-out double to left center to tie the game.
DeSales went back in front in the bottom of the fifth and the Cougars answered with two runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead.
Brady Madden led off with a double down the left field line and scored on Vosburg's single to right.Â
Connor Maryniak reached on a fielder's choice, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on Gray's double down the right field line to give MU a 3-2 lead.
The score stood until the Bulldogs got a two-run, walk-off homer in the ninth.
