The Widener women's lacrosse team used a big fourth quarter to down Misericordia University, 16-5, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

Michelle Torzilli had two goals and an assist and four draw controls to lead the Cougars.  Rachel Shook added two goals and four groundballs and Molly Celesky had a goal and two assists.

Shook gave the Cougars the lead with 6:29 left in the first quarter, but Widener tied it 90 seconds later to start a 5-0 run over the next 15 minutes.

Celesky bounced in a shot from the right wing to stop the run and get the Cougars within 5-2 late in the second period.

Down 10-2 in the third period, the Cougars rallied with three straight goals.

Shook cut across the middle from the right side and scored a back-handed goal with 6:46 left in the third.

Torzilli took a pass from Celesky and used a spin move to score with 3:52 to go.

Genevieve Montanye found Torzilli in stride from behind the net to get the Cougars within 10-5 late in the third period.

Widener ended the game with six unanswered goals in the fourth period.
