MU Baseball Sweeps Wabash

 The Misericordia University baseball team improved to 4-2 with a seep over Wabash, Sunday in Port Charlotte, FL.
 
Tyler Leonard struck out six and tossed a complete game to lift MU, 8-3, in the opener.
 
Derrick Vosburg, Garrett McIlhenney and Brendan Gray each homered in the nightcap as the Cougars downed the Little Giants, 5-2.
 
In the opener, Connor Maryniak launched a two-run bomb in the bottom of the second inning to plate the day's first runs. Three batters later, Gabe Bunn followed suit with a two-run shot to left to cap off a four-run inning.
 
Wabash responded by adding three runs in the top of the third.
 
Brady Madden teed off on a solo bomb to lead off the bottom of the third to put the Cougars up two. Brock Bollinger scored on a Maryniak RBI double and Maryniak crossed the plate on a wild pitch to extend the MU lead, 7-3.
 
Leonard made quick work of the Giants in the fourth, picking up two k's in a one, two, three inning.
 
Comins launched a shot over the right-center field wall in the bottom of the fourth to make the score, 8-3.
 
Leonard allowed just two hits and struck out three over the final three innings and earned the win.
 
In the nightcap, David McCurry got the win after tossing five frames with four strikeouts and no earned runs.
 
Comins and Vosburg went yard as the Cougars scored three in the top of the first.
 
McIlhenney launched a solo blast over the right field wall in the top of the second to push the Misericordia lead to four.
 
McCurry picked up two strikeouts and had a putout at first in the bottom of the third.
 
Brendan Gray cleared the right field fence to lead off the sixth.
 
Steve Rinda pitched a scoreless sixth inning, while Justin Calvarese got the call in the seventh and earned the save.
 
The Cougars have now won four in a row and gone yard 11 times in their three games in Port Charlotte.
 
Misericordia will play Lebanon Valley, tomorrow at 2:00.
