The Misericordia University baseball team extended its win streak to seven with 14-6 victory over Heidelberg, Wednesday at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Garrett McIlhenney was 3-4 with two runs and two RBI while
Nick Giardino collected three hits and a team-high four RBI.
Brock Bollinger drove in three and stole a base and
Derrick Vosburg recorded three runs and two RBI.
Jaiden Cioffi pitched four scoreless innings of relief and earned the win.
After a scoreless first, the Cougars juiced the bases allowing Giardino to double down the left-field line and clear the bases.
MU tacked on two more runs in the next inning via a two-run single from Bollinger.
After being held hitless through three, Heidelberg collected six consecutive hits and six runs to take the lead.
The Misericordia offense was quick to respond, with McIlhenney bringing home Giardino with an RBI double in the bottom half of the inning.
Gabe Bunn drove McIlhenney for the go-ahead run as the Cougars retook the lead, 7-6.
MU picked up seven insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh with Vosburg, Bollinger, Giardino, McIlhenney and
Randy Mateo driving in runs.
Misericordia will play its final game as part of the Snowbird Classic with Swarthmore, tomorrow at 9:00 from Port Charlotte.
