The #20 Misericordia University baseball team moved into first place in the MAC Freedom with a sweep of FDU-Florham, Saturday at Tambur Field.

The Cougars won 12-2, 6-0 to extend their winning streak to seven games and improve to 30-6 overall and 18-3 in the MAC Freedom.

Derrick Vosburg had three hits and three RBI in the opener and
Brendan Gray drove in three runs.

Tyler Leonard struck out seven and allowed just one hit over six innings to get the win.

Vosburg had two hits and two RBI in the nightcap and
Jason Sanfilippo had three hits.Â
Brady Madden,
Garrett McIlhenney and
Brock Bollinger all had two hits.

Steve Rinda struck out eight and allowed just three hits to earn the shutout win.

In game one, the Cougars took control early as the batted around and scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Cougars took advantage of five walks in the inning and Vosburg and Madden had RBI-singles.

Misericordia put the game out of reach with four-run third inning on Vosburg's RBI-double and Gray's sacrifice fly.

MU used another big first inning to take an early lead in the nightcap.

Bollinger and Vosburg had RBI-doubles and Madden drove in a run with a single up the middle.

The Cougars will travel to Susquehanna, Wednesday, before opening a three-game series with Arcadia at Tambur Field, Friday.
