The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team clinched a first round by in the MAC Freedom championships with a 21-9 win at Lycoming, Wednesday night.
Michelle Torzilli led the Cougars with seven goals, three assists and seven draw controls and
Molly Celesky had five goals and two assists.
Genevieve Montanye had three goals and two assists and
Rachel Shook had two goals, two assists and 14 draw controls.
Madelyn Uetz made 10 saves in goal.
Montanye put the Cougars in front with a goal in the opening minute and Celesky scored three times in a three-minute span to make it 4-0.
Torzilli had a goal and an assist as the Cougars scored four more goals in just over two minutes to take an 8-0 lead with 6:47 left in the first quarter.
The Warriors never got closer than six goals and Torzilli scored to ignite another 4-0 run late in the third quarter to make it 19-7.
Torzilli scored to open the fourth period and closed out the scoring with 6:15 to go.
The Cougars are 9-7 overall and 6-1 in the MAC Freedom and will host Stevens in their regular season finale, Saturday.
